The biggest wine regions in the country are located in the western part. You can find them among the foothills of the Andes Mountains. They have very special climate. Midday is very hot 95-100 F, but night can be even 50 F. Winter time (July) like in the Continental area, but frost is very rare in the vineyards.
If we talk about Argentinian wine industry then mostly we think about Mendoza, because this region give the 60 percent of the country's yearly production.

Second largest wine region is San Juan which produce wines over on 116.000 acres. It has very similar climate as in Mendoza. Summer is hot. Local varietals are famous like Syrah, Malbec in the Bodega Colome Amalaya.
As in Spain in Argentina you can find La Rioja region which is not far from San Juan. Typical flavors are in their wines such as cedar, spicy tastes and strawberry. They have many visitors as well. Best known wine is a premium category red: Luca Pinot Noir.
More and more people knows a smaller region the Cafayate. It is a very developing are of the country. There were a lots of investments around there in the last few years. If you like white, choose Quarra Torrentes, but reds also great here like Quarra Tannat. Tannat is a special and rare grape around here.
